Re: Mansions – East West North South facing?/ low-high floor benefits?

"If a higher building, I would avoid anything higher than 7 to 10 floors," Thanks, Isadora...OK, will keep that in mind. My real estate agent told me that higher floor (let's say up to 7) apartments are hard to find as a lot of people buy them to rent out for 20 years and then move into wh...

Mansions – How to search? Real estate agents? Online resources?

I’m a little frustrated by real estate agents. They seem to have their own ideas about what to show you. Sometimes they don’t show something near to them they should know about…I’m not sure why. I’m thinking I should go to more than one agent, but that could get complicated. To supplement working wi...

Mansions – East West North South facing?/ low-high floor benefits?

Hi...I’m considering buying a mansion. I’m not in a rush so can afford to wait for something I really like. My general tendency is to want an East facing veranda on a high floor as that is the experience I have had and was quite happy with. But that is my only experience. Is everyone the same? I won...

Re: National/Shigaku Pension - Does this look right?

In my case there was a "taishokin" payment of about one month's salary for every year worked. I have heard some places will raise a bit that if you work more than 20 years. You can check that policy with the accounting office or better yet with someone who has recently retired.

Pension raise after full retirement questions

My pension took a little jump after full retirement. I was not told about this by my university’s accounting department beforehand so it came as a nice surprise. I started taking my university Shigakko Kyosai Kumiai pension at 66. From 65 I changed from full time professor to a Tokunin kyoshi 3 clas...

Re: Collecting Unemployment benefits post-retirement

Adding to my previous reply. I went for my second interview at Hello Work 2 weeks after the initial interview. The gal asked if I had found work since my last visit and I hadn't, so she moved right to telling me I would be gettin 271,000 yen in the next week or so. It's a one time payment. Be aware ...

Re: Collecting Unemployment benefits post-retirement

Thanks! I was told to expect about 200,000 yen but there seemed to be some chance to get more. I notice you went to the office a couple of times to at least appear interested in working. I will try that and see. Good tip about taking a bit of time off before starting any new work.

Collecting Unemployment benefits post-retirement

Hi...I wonder if anyone has applied for unemployment benefits post-retirement and can give me advice on the process and how to assure/maximize the payment? Unimployment insurance is a small part of the Shakkai Hokken monthly payment I made for 25 years. I retired in March and when I was in the finan...
