Are you feeling a bit lost? Perhaps you’ve been meaning to get your finances in order for a while. Maybe you started a new job, got married, had a child, or came into some money.

For some people, reading a book, asking questions in the RetireJapan forum, or picking up one of the RetireJapan Guides is enough.

But if you would like some more help, want to save time, or need some motivation, perhaps coaching or a consultation might be for you.

Consultations

RetireJapan offers consultations for individuals, helping you take control of your finances. This can be general, for example taking a look at your situation and helping you make some positive changes, or more specific: helping you figure out how to use a broker website or think about your portfolio.

What do I not do?

What do I do?

The benefits clients say they receive from my coaching fall within two categories:

Consultation sessions are held online on Zoom. They are private and completely tailored to you. Before the session we will confirm what you would like to cover and get any relevant background information from you.

Any information you share with us before, during, or after a consultation session will be treated in the strictest of confidence.

After the session we’ll send you any resources, links, or information that came up in the session, and answer any follow up questions you may have.

Most clients so far have taken 1-3 sessions, although some continue longer using the consultation sessions to maintain momentum and motivation.

Consultation costs 20,000 yen for a single session up to 60 minutes. You can book a consultation session through this link.

Coaching

We are also preparing a new, long-term coaching service. If you are earning a decent income but do not have savings and investments, this might be for you. Sign up here for more information and to be notified when places become available (no commitment).

Retire Japan was very helpful in explaining the lay of the land for personal investing in Japan. Opening an investment account can be a complex, frustrating process, and I would recommend a Retire Japan coaching session to anyone, especially non-Japanese, who is thinking of investing through a Japanese broker.

A.M.

About what I got from the session, although it was good to get answers for my specific questions, there wasn’t anything groundbreaking in terms of new information. That is not to say that it wasn’t helpful – on the contrary! I believe I had most of my ideas validated and that was good for me to see that I’m mostly in the right path.

So my biggest takeaway from our session was the confidence boost to actually take the leap and make the purchase orders (which I just did, by the way!). For people like me (who read a lot something, but is usually reluctant to take the actual decision), having this little push was certainly worth it.

G.O.

I definitely got a lot from our session and would wholeheartedly recommend it.
The main things I took away from the session was, having a clearer sense of where I stand financially , what options are available to me as an expat living in Japan, how to go about creating a plan, and learning the steps required to put it all into place, before I found Retire Japan I had no idea of what I didn’t know !

It is one thing to know you should get a handle on your finances, but quite another to know how to go about it. Especially while living in another country. In that respect Ben , you have been a beacon of light ,a place where answers can be found and I have really appreciated all the work you have put into the site and our coaching session.

To have an opportunity to discuss financial matters in a neutral setting, with a knowledgeable person who doesn’t have any other financial agenda, or is trying to sell you a financial product, is worth its weight in gold.

Again thank you Ben for all your help and for creating such a wonderful site and I will continue to spread the word about all your good work.
