Is anyone still using their US IB account?
I haven't received any information about having to be switched to an IBJ account and have continued to fund and use my US based account.

Re: British Expats Voting in Parliamentary Elections
Apologies all for resurrecting an old thread, but I wanted to provide an update. I wrote to the Cabinet Office via their website a few months ago and received a reply last week as follows: Thank you for your query regarding progress in implementing the changes required to allow British citizens who ...

Re: MNP - Free from March 17th
This is great news. Is there a mobile phone thread comparing the best offers from carriers? I'm currently on the old Line plan but they've just emailed me to say theyre pulling VoLTE support. Having looked into it, it doesn't really affect what I use, but it's made me wonder if I'm on the best value...

Brilliant stuff - would be keen to support, even if it's simply lifting information already on the forum and adding it to the wiki.

Re: UK State Pension newbie
Good thoughts, all - thanks. As I'm class 3 and still quite keen to return in the mid-term, I will hold off on repaying for now. According to the letter, the final cut-off for repayments will be April 2023, although they cannot guarantee the amount required to complete the year beyond April this year.

Re: British Expats Voting in Parliamentary Elections
Great news in the budget that they seem to be making moves to remove the 15 years rule. The yearly renewal is a bit of a pain, but as adamu says it can all be done on line and doesn't require any sending or signing (I believe this is the case only if you are keeping the same format as you had the pr...

Re: UK State Pension newbie
Very happy to update that I received a letter last week informing me that a direct debit had been set up for Class 3 contributions, and they had collected a first payment of £657.90 for the period 12/04/2020 to 06/02/2021. Checked my UK bank and confirmed that the direct debit had gone through - so ...

Re: Simple Q&A - NISA
I had a quick question on how the Japanese brokerages display your tsumitate fund investments. I use Rakuten for my tsumitate nisa and I've set up an SBI one for my wife. On both platforms, the amount of units I own in a fund (保有数量) seems to be inflated x 10,000 compared to the base price (基準価額) and...

Re: UK State Pension newbie
I didn’t have these years of contributions and didn’t even know about this when I initially applied. This was the reason I was eventually given after several “computer says no” letters. But a friend here was accepted straight away and he didn’t have these years either. That made me complain about n...

Re: UK State Pension newbie
Oh, that sounds like a fairy-tale ending! If you are able to pass on details/connect me to an actual person who works there it would be a massive help. I assume the reason you have finally correctly ended up on Class 2 is because you had made 3 years of paid NI contributions prior to moving abroad (...
