Business Mgr Visa: Home office conditions

Anyone managed to get a business manager visa using a home office? We are at the planning the floor plan stage a building a home (it came quite suddenly due to family and opportunity) and I am wondering if I should switch to spouse visa or if I can keep a business mgr visa. From what I understand, a...

Re: Brokers asking for zairyu card copies over and over again

Rakuten is leaving me alone. I have to renew in autumn, so maybe they'll ask then?

Health Insurance / Pension with 2 jobs

Hello, long time no see I am the CEO of my own company, and I plan to take a normal dev job wherever I can find. Since my own company should still see some revenues from product sales, I was wondering if I can still pay myself a director compensation while working my normal salaried job. In that cas...

Re: Educating Children

I tried introducing programming to my son with a BBC:Microbit and also some Scratch. It didn't really capture his imagination though... On the other hand, he's been going to a robot class for the past 18 months and loves it. It's quite expensive, but he really wanted to do it. They build and progra...

Re: Hot Stock Market here in Japan

No stocks, no ETFs, just 100% eMaxis Slim All Country global index fund. Up 48% in the last year. 😇 This 48% over 1 year is extremely specific to the last day of October when there was a 5%+ dip in 2020. If you look any other week it's about 30% for 1 year, which is still excellent ;) All the marke...

Re: Tax accounting software

Personally I found it easier to create a separate "Business name" bank account. It's a private account, and must contain your full name, but you can add some business name in it. My account was "BUSINESS DOE MARK JOHN" and I tried as much as possible to pay myself a stable salary...

Re: Cashing out

This logic seems sound, except of course that the key piece of the puzzle (when it will go down) is unknowable. I was wrestling with the same arguments throughout 2017-2020 when markets were at all-time record highs (as they still are now), and I paid the price for trying to time it and outsmart ev...

Re: water bills

I pay about 10k/2months for the family house (4 people) and 4.2k/2months for the office space. Apparently there is a minimum fee to the water contract of ¥3,900 since the first bill I hadn't even used 1m3 of water and was billed that much. Not sure if I could change provider to something more adapte...

Re: Cashing out

I checked the YTD gains this weekend on my MSCI World ETF and it's 27% over 10 months. It's kinda crazy. As others said, you can change the rules from 100% equity to keep 20% cash, or some % of bonds, etc... Having 20% of cash during a crash means your portfolio might suddenly become 60% equity / 40...

Re: What to do with extra cash in a Kabushiki Kaisha?

When you pay a taishokukin, the receiver pays taxes on it but the taxable amount is reduced by some ridiculous proportions: - first you get a tax free allowance for 40万円 per year of work in your company. so 10 years => 400万円 are not taxable (it's 70万円 for every year after 20th) - then you half that...
