PR does help with getting a lender to give you a mortgage.
If you would be paying cash for the home then I am not aware of any issues from not having PR.

Re: Children's Accounts - Deposits and Gift Tax
Would you kindly throw up a snap of that sample contract? Let me see if I can get this to work: https://i.ibb.co/t251BcK/Gift-Contract-Template.jpg (set to be deleted 6 months from today, sorry) I can't remember exactly which book this was from (I took a bunch of photos of interesting pages before ...

Re: Children's Accounts - Deposits and Gift Tax
I am certainly not changing my approach radically. I simply will: 1. Get a signed contract between my mother-in-law and children. My mother-in-law takes this stuff pretty seriously, lol. 2. Inform my child upon taking over the account of the outside chance of complications, and arm them with a copy...

Re: Yea or nay? Holding mutual funds at Sony Bank to qualify for Platinum Stage perks?
I wonder whether there’s a downside to buying say 10 million yen’s worth of a well diversified mutual fund such as SBI’s wrap of Vanguard Total World Stock ETF at Sony Bank instead of my regular broker (Monex)? Unfortunatey Sony Bank doesn’t sell eMAXIS Slim All Country so SBI’s VT wrap seems to be...

Re: NISA - portfolio for the longest term
It's interesting though that even though they're making a song and dance about their 0 commission dollar yen conversions, the small print does say that there is actually a BID-ASK spread Yes, but when the spread is so narrow, it becomes almost meaningless to think about - more than the spread, the ...

100% agree.
Global central banks are all targeting inflation of 2% or thereabouts each year. That’s an ongoing devaluation of those monies, whichever one you pick.

Re: NISA a bad idea for mortgage holders?
It really depends on your circumstances - the article author is saying that it’s better for most people to not invest in risky assets, but not all. I don’t really agree with him when looking at it from a long term view. If your investment horizon is more than 10 years, then the historical record is ...

Re: iDeCo Robo Advisor Portfolio at MONEX...yay or nay?
I have some BNDX and not happy about the JGBs in there but it’s small enough in the bigger scheme of my portfolio that I overlook it. I also looked at myindex.jp and yes believe the data presented suggests one ought to have some gold. I think the top portfolios there (from my perspective) had like 2...
