Online accounting software that can cope with withholding taxes
Hi all I’m after a recommendation for free online accounting software with an English interface that can cope with withholding tax please. I started using Wave for my expenses but realised that it cannot cope with withholding tax when it comes to income. For those that don’t know withholding tax, it...

Re: UK State Pension newbie
Andy, I’m jealous you’ve had a relatively smooth ride! I wonder if they have improved their practices thanks to the deluge of applications from Japan! I reckon definitely back pay while you have such a good “deal”. Class 2 may well be scrapped in the future and we could all be forced to pay class 3....

Re: UK Building Society
I suppose no matter what product or whichever building society I go with in the UK, I would have to declare any interest gained as income here. Hadn't really thought about that. Sounds like a faff. Would that also re-put me into the UK tax system, meaning I would have to deal with two tax systems? I...

Re: UK Building Society
Hi Thanks for the replies. @Beaglehound It's just a "normal" savings account I have, not an ISA. The reason the staff member initially suggested an online account was the ease of changing it to better rates when they became available. But now can't do that. Will have a look at NS&I. Lo...

Re: UK State Pension newbie
Hi. Just wanted to share my recent experience with the UK State Pension. January 2018 - I sent off my CF83 form applying for Class 2 (thanks to Ben's posts on this) May 2018 - received a letter rejecting my application saying I didn't meet the criteria. Tried to call and find out more but was told t...

UK Building Society
Hi. I have a savings account with Skipton Building Society in the UK that I've had for over 25 years. It's registered at my dad's house in the UK and not my address in Japan. It's a branch only account, meaning I can't do anything online with it. Last summer, when I was in the UK for a visit, I popp...

Re: UK Premium Bonds
I have a few thousand pounds worth of these and recently had a thought that perhaps: -it may not be legal to hold them here -although prizes are free from tax in the U.K. that likely isn’t the case for a permanent tax resident of Japan An online search yielded nothing useful so wonder if any fellow...
