Re: Rakuten CC tsumitate is now 100,000 yen a month

Is there any benefit to keeping 50k on credit card and 50k on Rakuten Cash? I currently have those settings, but wondering if it's better to change it to 100K Rakuten credit card just for simplicity.

Re: Free uni fees (3 kids) ?

Yes, my Japanese wife was telling me the same thing. From her understanding of it (we have 3 kids), it looks like our oldest son would potentially be eligible, the second son would get it for a year maybe, and then that would be it! So definitely not as good as it originally seemed, but still better...

Re: UK relative planning a trip to Japan

Hi Jimmy, My parents came out last month, and I have PR like you. They had to go to the Japanese Embassy in London to apply for and pick up the visas, but the process wasn't too difficult except for that. The main stumbling block was I had to provide my original birth certificate to prove my relatio...

Re: Current market climate

Having DCA'd in 2020 and 2021 in both my wife's NISA and mine (all in eMaxis All Country), I decided not to repeat the same mistake this time (market just kept going up, so ended up paying more for everything), so lumped it all in straight away at the start of January - whoops! I still have some of ...

Re: J-Nisa Reminder

Same for me: 100% emaxis All Country for my three kids. I have bit of fun with some individual stocks in my NISA, but don't mess around with theirs! Unfortunately, I only found out about J-NISA last year, but will max them out for the full 3 years (2021, 2022 and 2023) and see how it all turns out i...

Thanks a lot for the response. I'll do a lump sum at the beginning of January then.

Cheers,

Question about NISA 2022 timing

Hi everyone, Rather than waiting for 2022 to roll around, I invested the money set aside for 2022 NISA in my Tokutei account in the EMaxis Slim All County fund a few months ago. I was wondering if anyone had any advice about the best way of moving it across. I know I have to sell it in the Tokutei a...

Re: RetireJapan Online Conference

I just watched all the videos on the site. Thanks a lot for posting them so quickly. Had all the kids at home with me today because of the national holiday, so couldn't attend in person. The presentations were really informative and professional. Thanks to everyone involved!

Re: Wise - Terms of Service Change

Just in case anyone else needs to know, I worked it out: Basically, all previous transfers I'd made before April were to Wise's company account, and I typed in a unique reference number to show who the money should go to. However, when you make a balance now (say, for example, in GBP), Wise provide ...
