thanks for this-i am keen to take up the rights which have been extended to us for voting overseas-seems still way inside the deadline to apply-but what is this info i saw on here about postal votes being too slow??

Presuming it would be too outrageously cheeky to demand class 3 payments already paid to be taken at the class 2 rate and difference returned!?? Lol

I just recv'd a letter today saying that I had been accepted for class 2 payments even though I had been paying class 3 up til now and was rejected for class 2 payments previously due to never working in full time job in UK before coming to Japan.. No idea what is going on but fell like I have won ...

I hadn't even applied for class 2. When I went to pay my class 3 contributions a while ago was told acct was shut
And would need to reapply to pay in.. took me a yr or so to get round to doing it,but when I did I recv'd a letter in 8 weeks saying eligible for class 2...

pretty fluent -have been here 28yrs and work in a japanese company where noone speaks english.looking for higher level stuff..its really picking up kanji readings etc that may not know when reading newspapers etc..
