Re: Delaying pension
Also, a thought I had. I think many of us here are married to a Japanese wife. With how long women in Japan live, and the lack of survivors pension after 65, it may be a good idea to take your pension at 65 or 70, and have you wife delay taking her pension until 75. It will leave her with an extra 8...

Re: Delaying pension
The Rational Reminder YouTube channel recently made a video on this topic. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C66FqW4Bmyc It was very interesting, and changed my mind on this topic. Worth a watch if you’re unsure about delaying your pension or not. It’s Canadian based, but it seems to be very similar to ...

Re: Not Japanese, no entry
This reminds me of the time there was a “Whale Festival” at my local port. They had free whale soup (pretty gross in my opinion), whale bone goods, and the “RESEARCH” whaling ship. You could go on and get a tour of the ship. This was during the height of the Greenpeace “terrorist attacks” against th...

Re: Milestone Thread
I just hit one of my first big milestones: one year of gross salary in my iDeCo and NISA. I took a bit of a hit when I moved my taxable into the new NISA, but things have been going extremely well

Re: Japanese Credit Cards. What’s in your wallet?
I don’t really spend much money, so I just have one card. It’s an Amazon card. Every once and a while when I need to get something on Amazon I use whatever points I have on there.

In the unfortunate event of…
my untimely death. I’d like to make things as smooth and easy as possible for my wife in case something happens. I’m doing fine, but hey, I could get hit by a Bosozoku tomorrow. Should I write down my bank accounts, NISA, iDeCo, insurance, pension accounts, etc? Is there anything else I should take ...
