Re: Investment options...

I don't fully understand this point. From a currency risk point of view, I believe it doesn't matter whether you invest in a given index fund in Yen, USD or any other currency. In other words, the only currencies that matter are your home currency, and the currency of the underlying assets of the f...

Re: Investment options...

Funds or individuals can hedge to lower this risk, but often lower returns at the same time. This is why simply buying funds in your home currency is often an easier and recommended approach. Re: Rakuten Ecosystem

It is an awesome benefit. I buy a separate and riskier Nasdaq 100 fund with my points. It allows me to scratch the FOMO itch by playing with the house's money. It is also fun to track your "free investment" separately. Ideally you should treat your points the same as you do any other mone...

Re: Rakuten Ecosystem

You can use Rakuten Points to purchase stocks on Rakuten Securities. Point purchase needs to be enabled, and you also need to have 'funds' available to make the purchase, but then they will refund the funds and deduct from your point total. This only works for normal points, not the limited time va...

Re: Investment options...

Its always better to invest in the currency of whatever the source of the money you will be using to invest off of on. If you're making yen, the investing in Japanese securities make more sense than taking foreign exchange hits both ways just to invest in the US. I don't fully understand this point...

Re: Comparing different funds, looking at returns etc.

Previous performance is not an indicator of future performance. You are chasing winners, a classic trap that many beginner investors fall into.

You need to consider your personal strategy and investment philosophy.

Freetrade (UK Trading APP) - Coming to Japan

My Entry Code: https://freetrade.io/jp?kid=1MZVWR

It definitely looks interesting, however, I am not sure I would actually invest with them.

Re: Broker Bankruptcy

I'm a bit confused by exactly what is and what isn't covered. I have a Monex account. Do I really need to worry about the holdings in funds managed by third parties (e.g. eMaxis slim funds)? Or stocks/etfs that are bought/sold on the open market? For both of these examples, the securities company (...

Re: Monex/Tsumitate Nisa: Beginner Help

Hello all, I started with つみたてNISA in summer and purchased eMAXIS Slim All Country in July. I started with a small amount and will change it later when I feel comfotable. Today, after three month, they finally withdrew the 10.000 Yen from my bank account and the status changed to "成功". Is...
