Re: iDeCo and US citizens

Has anything further been learned in regards to this matter of Americans and iDeCo? Since leaving my company I have a substantial DC portfolio on which the clock is ticking for next actions... I have done some research on worst-case scenarios and from what I have seen the default PFA isn't a terribl...

Re: Entering semi-retirement - what now?

Coming back to this thread regarding HC. My wife still works at the company I left and was wondering if she should add me to her insurance. Would we expect the cost for this to be less than N+1? She will go ask HR. Meanwhile I'm filling out the Hello Work documentation. I think they are just going ...

Re: Entering semi-retirement - what now?

If you agreed with your employer to make it so it was their decision, rather than you leaving, and you register to hello work for unemployment benefits, you can then bring the paper they give you to the city hall in order to get the health insurance down to 30/100 for about a year. I’ve used this t...

Re: Entering semi-retirement - what now?

However, there are some practical concerns. My immediate worry is covering my juminzei (residential tax) for the remainder of the year, which is expected to be high. Not critical, but unpleasant. I'm also transitioning to kokumin kenko hoken (national health insurance) and kokumin nenkin (national ...

Re: Entering semi-retirement - what now?

Congratulations! Quite similar to my own situation :D One minor thing -you may be able to stay on your former employer's health insurance for up to two years. This can be quite a lot cheaper (at least for the first year) as health insurance payments are based on the previous year's income and kokum...

Re: Entering semi-retirement - what now?

Hi all, I'm writing to share my recent transition into semi-retirement, a journey that's both exciting and a bit daunting. After nearly 20 years in my previous job, I've found myself at a crossroads in my mid-50s. The job market isn't overly welcoming at my age, especially for positions similar to ...
