Re: Investment policies maturing - where to put the cash and tax issue

UPDATE I've applied to Utmost for my maturity request. They are asking for further certified documents and I'm not sure where to get this done. From their email: (Sorry, a little long) "Thank you for your recent maturity request. We have now reviewed your request, however, we require some furth...

Re: Investment policies maturing - where to put the cash and tax issue

Thanks for the detailed advice from everyone.
I’m not confident with the tax calculations so I’ll see if I can get a financially competent friend to help me out! :)

Re: Investment policies maturing - where to put the cash and tax issue

My long-term saving policies that I set up 20 years ago will mature this year. The policies are based in Hong Kong. I will have around £60,000 that I want to move into my Monex investments - I’ll max out my NISA and then probably buy more ETFs. I have a Shinsei account as my main account then a Yuu...

Re: Surrounded by a cafe and dog run?!

Just for reference, this is the proposed development. We’re in a tiny clearing, my place is in the middle. I understand that it may come across like I’m being a nimby but I put all the money I had into buying the land and having the house built. I live in a small house with my husband and his mothe...

Re: Surrounded by a cafe and dog run?!

Maybe you can go to the city or village office and see how the land is zoned. You can see it here: https://keikan-gis.city.kyoto.lg.jp/kyotogis/cityplanning/main That’s an interesting site so thanks for that. I’m not really sure how to read the information to be honest as my place is right out in t...

Re: Surrounded by a cafe and dog run?!

Sounds like a very difficult situation for you. Maybe you can go to the city or village office and see how the land is zoned. It sounds like at the moment it is residential, and they plan to use it as a commercial type of use. I have heard about a case before where people bought land which was zone...

Re: So who's actually retired in Japan?

Very good topic! I am not yet retired and hope I still have a few decades before the health worries really kick in, but my wife and I have no kids and so the late stages of life do worry me a bit. There is really nobody here who could take care of us in our dotage. If I were left alone and still ha...

Surrounded by a cafe and dog run?!

I have a small home in a quiet valley clearing to the north of Kyoto. There are 4 other dwellings with permanent residents most of whom have been there 20 years, and one house used as a besso. I bought my land and had the house built 4 years ago. The remaining land is owned by the log house company ...

Problem with setting up bonus month in Monex NISA

I’m hoping someone might have some insight. I was able to make my first purchase in my Monex NISA account on the 17th of last month but I want to use the bonus month feature to top up the 5 months I missed. I followed the video instructions on their website to change my regular purchase amount and s...
