Re: Hoping for guidance
Note that it's not a straight faction, it's first-in-first-out based on the purchase price at the time of purchase. Are you sure about that, particularly in the case of mutual funds? Mutual funds have units, and they are priced per unit. I would imagine this exists in the backend and would be fairl...

Re: Banking, Wills, Access to husband's accounts
I’m a longtime resident of Japan but was recently astonished when my bank told me it would take at least a year and cost about ¥1,200,000 for my wife to access my bank accounts after I die. I had had a will leaving my assets to my wife drawn up and had it notarized by the Japanese Notary Office, bu...

When you buy for X Yen - When you decide to sell, the proceeds (how ever much - hopefully X + Gain) get deposited in your account tax free, and X Yen gets credited back to your Lifetime Allowance for the future. If you still have allowance in the same Tax Year, for either the Tsumitate Part or the ...

Re: Ben gets the last word!
How bad is it? High fee, front-loaded funds? "Ebisu Fund" ETFs chosen at near random based on their fee distrubution? All that, but also stuff seemingly chosen at random because it was hot at the time (years or decades ago). I generally recommend people schedule a talk with their 'advisor...

Banner is of course there with "Seniors should have an independent adviser (like us!)... look into their circumstances." And then being up front with the apparent universal need for "... income-generating investments, such as carefully selected shares which give regular dividends and...

Re: Selling 単元未満株 odd-lot shares out of hours
SBI has a system that operates outside of market hours. So in the case of minimum trading units, not oddlots, the stock in question is traded over the weekend in SBI's dark pools and other dark pools? Based on the link I posted above, SBI has two price-setting points per day for oddlots: one at 9am...

Re: Selling 単元未満株 odd-lot shares out of hours
This is the bit I don’t get. If they are traded in dark pools/via proprietary trading, why do I have to wait for the regular stock market to open to get a price? FYI this is the only oddlot I have. Dark pools don't operate 24/7 - usually they run alongside regular exchange hours. Not many instituti...

Re: Selling 単元株 minimum trading units out of hours
A market order outside of trading hours is a dangerous thing. It can even be dangerous during market hours. If there is one trader with a lowball automatic order set, you will be matched and the order will be filled. I would never do this. This is not how the system works. You need one trader with ...

Re: Selling 単元未満株 odd-lot shares out of hours
As oddlots are sold through individual dark pools, it is best not to trade them if you can. Stick to full lots. You want your securities to be liquid, and not locked to a proprietary system. This is the bit I don’t get. If they are traded in dark pools/via proprietary trading, why do I have to wait...
