Re: For Brits: it's time to vote

I'd rather you vote for the party I believe in, but I'd rather you vote for the party I'm opposed than you don't vote at all. Don't lose your chance to vote. +1. This might be useful for anyone interested in "gaming" the first-past-the-post system to maximise the chances of getting the ou...

SBI (the bank) is reminding me on every login, and presents a form to upload the scans. And Yucho (the usele...

Re: Preplanning your own funeral

... From what I have experienced, the crematoriums are using some insane heat to burn the body. It's like jet engine level heat. ... I have a cobalt-chromium artificial hip, and that stuff is also used in jet engines. A few bits of titanium, too, with an even higher melting point. I've wondered how...

You should probably be able to stay with your current health insurer for a few months ("任意継続"), which is somewhat cheaper as you'll be paying the employee portion (AFAIR) but you'll have to apply for that yourself.

Re: Spousal secret stash

A few months back I double-checked with my wife about how much she had saved, which I vaguely remembered as amount X, and she said, " oh I think it's around amount Y " (which was X + about 60%), then a few days later she mentioned something along the lines of " oh, you know I said I h...

Re: SBI wanting update of customer information

And today SBI informs me that "[重要]「お客さまのご登録情報更新手続き完了のご案内」" so I guess that's all done and dusted (though no dount they'll start wanting the updated zairyu card info fairly soon).
