Re: Wells Fargo Bank New US Address Requirement

Hello! I know this thread is a little dated, but I wanted to know if anyone else is in the same boat and what the solution might be -- ideally to keep my Wells Fargo account while living in Japan... Recently I received a notification from Wells Fargo, my longtime stateside bank, in which among new ...

Re: Wells Fargo Bank New US Address Requirement

to declare the US address of a relative or friend That sounds like fraud, which can often have unpleasant consequences. These people seem to have a bank account option for non-residents: https://www.americansabroad.org/ The good news is that I was able to get in touch with Wells Fargo and they say ...

Re: wiring money to Japan from the US

Are you trying to wire the money to yourself or your wife's account? Not sure if my experience helps, but here it is: I am a dual citizen (over age 20). In the US, I am considered a US citizen, but in Japan I am considered Japanese. When I called my US bank to wire the money and gave them the info f...

Re: Having a phone number/SIM from your home country

Hello! I know this post is a little old, but I have some questions and observations. Recently, the investment firm I use in the US emailed to say they are getting rid of the option to get the "codes" by email... and I am a little stressed about this, as I don't know what to do. They don't...

Re: Having a phone number/SIM from your home country
For prepaid SIM in the US I am pretty sure no ID is required. My US TMobile sim works in my Apple Japan (unlocked) phone.
Thanks so much for your reply!! So since the last time I posted, I have ordered the Ultra Mobile SIM card (which was sent to my friend's house in the US) and a ...

Re: Having a phone number/SIM from your home country

[ The only caveat is that I'm not sure the SIM card can be registered on the Japanese phone network. I was visiting my family in the States for Thanksgiving last year and had the eBay seller send it to my parents' house. I was also sure to bring along my old unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8 to install th...

Re: Having a phone number/SIM from your home country

Very interested in this discussion because I also find I need a US phone number. I am pretty naive about how this works because for the last decade or so I do everything with a smartphone issued by my company. I was going to just get an extra phone (like a whole phone :) ) and plan in the US (linke...

Re: wiring money to Japan from the US

Hi 10-7, Thanks for sharing your experience with us. :) As for me, I ended up just transferring the money from the US straight into my Mitsubishi bank account. I know that maybe Sony/Transferwise would have made it cheaper, but for now, I didn't want to deal with creating new accounts, etc. For thos...
