Re: Simple Q&A - iDeCo
I decided to set up my iDeco account with SBI the other day. However, each time I'm about to input my bank information, the error message below shows up. I've tried redoing the entire process from the beginning four times already at different times of the day, but with no luck. Does anyone know what...

Re: iDeCo and US citizens
I was talking to SBI iDeco chat this morning, and this is what they told me. What do you think? I don't know if I should 100% believe what a customer support representative says, but I'm sure they have some kind of training about this, right?" https://i.ibb.co/T8PDKN7/Smart-Select-20240304-1136...

Re: Moving outside of Japan
I'm just talking about my personal experiences; like I said, everyone I know has a Japanese mom and an American dad.

Re: Moving outside of Japan
That makes a lot of sense, since most if not all of the people I know with dual citizenship have a Japanese mom and an American (military) dad.

Re: Moving outside of Japan
I just find it interesting that while Japan doesn't officially recognize dual citizenship, there are people with both Japanese and American citizenship who live in Japan without issues. The AI also highlights this discrepancy between the law and its practical enforcement. However, I will delete my p...

Re: Moving outside of Japan
You can invest in Stocks through Growth NISA... Unfortunately, I am not confident or risky enough to invest in individual stocks :( Not Kokumin Nenkin Kikin. You can only contribute to that is you are in employment in Japan. Noted. Therefore, I should not consider joining the National Pension Fund ...

Re: Moving outside of Japan
No, you would not want to do that. You'd be on the hook for income tax on global income, residents taxes and heath insurance contributions, etc.. Not related to NISA, but you mentioned about health insurance contributions, do you guys have any idea if I can keep paying for my health insurance even ...

Re: Moving outside of Japan
Thank you Tkydon No, you will not be able to invest in iDeCo and NISA if / while you are not resident in Japan. Can I leave whatever I have already invested before moving out of Japan until I need the money during retirement? Another option I am considering, not sure if it is possible, is to keep my...
