Re: So who's actually retired in Japan?
I'm also stressing about this situation and don't get my pension until end of 2033. I really don't fancy been an old guy in a country I can only speak a few get by words. But on the other side of the coin, I'm not to keen on my wife having to cope with the NHS system in the uk as she gets older. Thi...

Re: UK driving licence question
Thanks for that link my friend.
I've read through the posts and now understand the green book procedure.
Once again, thanks for the help.

UK driving licence question
Hi all, Just a little confused about this. I have uk driving licence which expires in about 8 years. I've been living in Japan since 2021 and currently have a license on a 2 year update program. I understand you can't put your Japanese address on your uk license, but for visiting home and hiring a c...

NI info for uk pension
Hi again all, I managed to finally get into gateway account. Changed my address to my address in Japan etc. I've checked my NI contributions and says I've paid 40years. What it is is showing is gaps when started living in Japan. Obviously I haven't paid NI contributions in uk because I'm not there. ...

Documents via post to international pension centre uk.
Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody has sent any mail from Japan to uk pension office ( change of address etc ).
If so, did you mail it out with basic postage or did you do tracking send and sign system?
I wasn't sure if there was anybody there to sign or not.
Many thanks
Alan

Re: UK pension living in Japan
I tried accessing the government gateway. It's not letting me log in due to the security checks. I only have my passport, nothing else matches their request. I don't hold a photo license etc and it is asking me questions about credit check dates and details I no longer hold. I think I will post my n...

Re: UK pension living in Japan
Will I need to continue paying some kind of NI contribution ?
The required amount is 35 years, but I've actually paid in 38 years.
Thanks again

Re: UK pension living in Japan
Oh really,
This is fantastic news
I was worried I would be receiving 2021 rates 10 years on from now, but with the triple lock they keep rising pretty well year on year.
So come 2034, I shouldn't be to bad.
Thank you so much for that.
