Re: Preplanning your own funeral
I have a plot of land and would be happy to be doused in gasoline, burned, then scattered on that land. I've wondered if this is OK... Not the human BBQ out back, but the scattering of ashes. I'd like my ashes to be scattered at some of my favourite places that have meant a lot to me over the years...

Re: Sock options
I've had great success with Danish Endurance socks on Amazon... I run and train quite a bit and these socks last really well. They're comfy and the merino blend have been great during the winter. For skiing, skating etc. I've splurged and bought legit Smartwool socks and they're on another level!

Re: Storage heater (ceramic bricks heater)
I have a storage heater... It's a Stiebel Eltron product but I'm not sure of the model. From looking at the website it looks like it might be the SHF4000 model. Anyway, I live in Nagano surrounded by mountains, up around 700m elevation and the unit has been a waste of money unfortunately... When we ...

Re: 10 years old! How has RetireJapan helped you?
Not quite sure what sparked my interest back in 2018, but I stumbled upon the RetireJapan guides for iDeCo and NISA, and then the forum. Within probably a month of reading, asking questions, getting lots of invaluable information, I had everything either set up or paperwork was pending approval. Sin...

Re: Simple Q&A - NISA
Will it just continue or automatically change over? Yes. Cool! So I have my TNISA running now at ¥4man a month (the ¥33,333 + ¥6,667 thanks to a late start in the year). Does this mean I don't have to do anything and it'll continue to invest ¥4man a month into the same eMaxis Slim All-Country? If s...

Re: Rakuten asking for zairyu card info
Also, the name on my Rakuten (and bank) accounts is NOT the same as the name on my zairyu card, and I predict if I give it to them they are going to mess everything up. I got the dreaded email yesterday and I have the same name issue... Updating the information via smartphone allowed me to upload m...
