Re: UK eVisa for UK permanent permit holders
It looks like quite a predicament. I'm no visa expert, this is just my understanding from reading the article you linked and the info on gov.uk. There is an official factsheet from the Home Office , which says: It is free, and straightforward for customers who hold physical and paper documents to cr...

Re: Sanity check on tax implications of applying for PR

Re: PR Application - Experience
Bottom line: The whole process was less complicated as I´d have it expected to be. Submitting the application is just the beginning 😁 Give us an update once the residence card is in your hands. Hopefully the next communication is the postcard to pay the fee, rather than a request for more documents...

Re: Which credit card for which NISA?
SMBC card works with SBI, but they're due to cut the amount of points later this year. Rakuten already cut their points recently. Not sure about Monex. You could possibly convert your SMBC card to one of the eligible ones for SBI , giving up the ANA points. Not sure if that's worth it - and note the...

Re: Tax Qualified Invoice ID + a fulltime job any complications?
I don't think so? Beware that signing up for that means that you'll have to submit a consumption tax return every year. But you'll be able to claim back the consumption tax for business expenses. For expenses as part of your fulltime job, you should get 100% refunded by your employer and they deal w...

Re: Making Sense of My Situation with the UK National Insurance System
For 2014 onwards, it looks like the website is quoting you the standard voluntary payment (class 3) rates, whereas the letter is quoting you class 2 rates based on your individual circumstances (probably because you were working abroad during those periods). I'd go with the letter. At 35 years old, ...

Re: change UK state pension from NICs class 3 to 2
What are the actual criteria for class 2 to have worked for a while in the UK before you come to Japan? 3. Immediately before going abroad, you were ordinarily an employed or self-employed earner in the UK. https://www.gov.uk/voluntary-national-insurance-contributions/who-can-pay-voluntary-contribu...

Re: change UK state pension from NICs class 3 to 2
What are the actual criteria for class 2 to have worked for a while in the UK before you come to Japan? 1. You’re employed or self-employed outside the UK, and 2. You’ve lived in the UK for a continuous 3-year period at any time before the period for which NICs are to be paid, or before going abroa...
