Re: Early Retirement Checklist
If your company is paying for your tax preparation services you might ask that that continue at least for the final year that includes some income related to your employment. I think the most difficult thing I will face when I leave my employer is extracting all of my email contacts or communication...

Re: Fidelity Bluechipstock fund comparison
I agree with northSaver (at first I couldn't believe the fees were that high but northSaver is correct). That is just a US high tech fund (Microsoft, Apple and NVDIA are three top holdings) so it isn't surprizing that it is currently beating eMaxis all-country. Nothing here that justifies those fees.

Re: Moving / Investing yen to US
Prestia offers structured deposit accounts where you can essentially make a bet with them about exchange rates for a specific term of time, get a higher interest rate and control the exchange rate at which you are willing to make the conversion. This is a speculation because no one knows what exchan...

Re: Short Notice, I know... - Tokyo
Sorry I missed it. I live a 15 minute walk from there but was on a flight to the US. Would be great to have a RetireJapan meet-up in the future.

Re: Representative Director - Risks without Rewards
I think I've agreed a compromise to losing the unemployment insurance, even though they keep deducting it each month.. I get a small salary from my wife's school, but apparently am not eligible to join unemployment insurance because we live together. Still gets deducted every month... :? Int...

Re: Excessive Health Insurance deductions reimbursement 国民健康保険料
Unfortunately, I don't. It just appears as a single line item on my salary slip. I am certainly well below the 5.73 million cap in health insurance premiums. Guess I should be happy that my bonus only comes once a year.Do you have a break down of which deductions make up the 184,506?

Re: Excessive Health Insurance deductions reimbursement 国民健康保険料
Thanks! I’m inclined to believe it’s them erring on the side of caution with the withholding rates. BTW, As covered in the post above I’ve identified the cause of the “extra”/“excessive” health deductions in my personal case. (Bonus payments).. I just checked the health insurance deduction for bonu...

Re: Declaring dividends received outside Japan
In contrast to what TokyoWart does, I was specifically instructed by the tax office to use that site for conversion to yen, and to use the specific date that the dividend was paid. (Also how to back up a day or more when a rate was not available for a given day.) Thanks for responding. I think your...
