Re: Is monthly purchase mandatory in tsumitate part of NISA?
Japanese get two bonuses a year, but you can add a bonus contribution any time you like, subject to the following limit... What's the source for the Japanese/non-Japanese difference? I don't believe NISA cares about nationality. I think Tkydon meant that, in Japan, salaried workers (usually) get 2 ...

Re: PR Application with no Job?
The main thing for PR is to convince the inspector that you are good for Japan.
Paid a lot of tax, supporting wife + family going forward are good reasons. You might have to get creative about how you'll do that if you don't have any more income sources lined up.

Re: Not Japanese, no entry
They weren't asking anybody for ID, they just saw me and waved their hand and said in English "Sorry only Japanese".
As I said I left it at that but wish I'd pushed it further to find out if it was an over-simplification or an actual policy.

Not Japanese, no entry
Doesn't happen often, but did today when I tried to board a Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force ship that was open to the public. A bit miffed, to be honest. At the time I just said "oh, okay," and left, but I wish I'd have pushed back a bit more. Probably not a good idea to pick a fight ...

Re: Nakano Asset Management's 'quality growth' active funds?
Lesson 4. It is difficult to find outperforming active mutual funds. Hence, many investors are turning passive. The more passive investors there are, however, the easier it should be for active investors to outperform. It doesn't follow, because c.f. the Monevator article, for every active winner t...

Past performance is not an indicator of future performance. Look up, e.g. Neil Woodford.
It sounds like your mind is set to be honest. I'll just repost this.

Re: Generali Utmost International Vision Policy Termination
I'm almost at the 10 year mark on my General Utmost contributions, and my account has almost doubled. I guess it depends on what fund you selected (I picked a technology fund), but I'm somewhat satisfied with it. These types of accounts were always advertised as tax free savings by the so called fi...

Re: Getting tired of Monex
Have changed jobs/address with SBI multiple times. Order physical form via web form, post back with photocopies of ID. Someone else posted that they had issues with SBI, but I've not had any personally. They only have the ex-JP version of eMaxis Slim All Country, though. You can go for the SBI versi...
