Re: What to do with inheritance?

By the way, I’ve never met anyone who admits to NOT making money with their NISA account. Everyone’s a winner! NISA has coincided with the Abenomics policy mix, which features a weaker yen, so unless one bet on individual investments that turned out to be losers, it would have been difficult for mo...

Re: BOJ rate policy and mortgage

Good explainer here, albeit in Japanese: https://www.sbiaruhi.co.jp/guide/words/detail/prime_rate/ -> The ways that variable rate mortgages and fixed rate mortgages are set differ. I had(have) a large mortgage and didn’t feel comfortable with the risk of my monthly mortgage repayments going up in th...

Re: Self Intro

i dont advise any one to trade on leverage; ok, I will ignore what you said about buying a lot of futures contracts then, thanks for the clarification. My stop order is almost 1,000 bucks above my entry level, so this one isn’t going to destroy my account if it does gets hit this week. I agree leve...

Re: Duration of bond funds

The eMAXIS one has a duration of 6.4 mentioned in this monthly report:

(デュレーション)

I haven’t looked for mutual funds specifically, but there are US ETFs that are specifically shorter duration, and others that are quite the opposite.

Re: Self Intro

Well i hope u bought a lot of futures contracts in coco :) Well, I bought enough cocoa CFD for me given the size of my account, but it’s up 28% since I took your advice (my trade is leveraged though), and after one profitable, but false start where I ran for cover too early, I have been able make o...

Re: Well, this is a wild ride (just muttering to my n00b self)

I peek often, but don’t feel the urge to sell up at the sign of trouble. Monex has some nice visualization of the value of your portfolio over time. On a daily basis it moves a little, but zooming out to monthly and yearly bars, my visualization looks kind of like your textbook tsumitate portfolio s...

Re: Bitcoin: So at the end of the day, is it worth it?

Yeah, apparently without a law change here in Japan, no one will be able to buy an ETF holding underlying crypto data assets.

In Japan if you want it you have to own the real thing me understands.

That two days thing seems inexact. It might be ready today before you head to the tax office if you are lucky :)

Furusato Amazon is coming!

Tokyo TV's "World Business Satellite" just ran a segment on Amazon's apparent entry into the Furusato Nozei scene - it was interesting and I'm sure we'll hear more so here's a summary: The buzz is that if Amazon enters the furusato nozei biz, it could cause quite a disruption in the market...

Re: iDeCo Application with Monex 2024

Well, something worked! I didn't call Monex up about this - I just tried again now to register my iDeCo account using the Monex GUI, and I found that it is /just working/ now. That's a pleasant surprise :) Maybe it was your phone call Gareth that made them aware of whatever glitch there was in there...
