Re: The corona effect
Sounds familiar! I filled my NISA up at the end of Feb. Just placed another order with half of my remaining reserves. Expect another dip soon

Re: The corona effect
...and, immediately after I put some more money into the stock market we are down another 5% and officially into a bear market. Italy is in complete shut-down and my company has asked everyone to work from home. I plan to keep buying all the way down but this is getting crazy. This is exactly what ...

Re: The corona effect
Wow, another huge chunk off. I had to do a double take when I logged into rakuten this evening.
I made a few staggered orders last week but I think I'll hold off a while before placing any more!

The corona effect
Hi all, It seems regardless of the recent articles by investing gurus, coronavirus has so far had a pretty major effect on the markets. How is everyone here coping with the dip? Is anyone else currently investing? I'm topping up the remainder of my NISA with a few staggered orders right now. It's ha...

Re: Tax deduction for childbirth medical costs?
I got to the bottom of this. For future reference, if anyone is wondering: - the majority of birthing costs are eligible for the "high medical cost tax deduction" even after the government subsidy - optional examination costs for the baby immediately after birth are also eligible (blood an...

Re: Tax deduction for childbirth medical costs?
Thanks for the reply. I think in most cases the government subsidy of 420,000 yen covers the majority of the birth costs, but the nearest hospital to us was quite a large public city hospital which (weirdly) seems to be more expensive than the average private birthing clinic. We also ended up having...

Re: I submitted my deductibles to my company for nenmatsuchosei. What to do when filing kakuteishinkoku
On your nenmatsu chosei summary from your company there should be a small number in brackets near the top left. This is your ideco total contributions for the year from the ideco paper you submitted to them, and the same number can also be entered in the during the kakutei shinkoku process (assuming...

Tax deduction for childbirth medical costs?
Hi all, A quick question about the upcoming tax return. I know that any medical expenses exceeding 100,000 yen can be claimed for as a deduction, but does that include medical expenses for a dependent? More specifically, hospital costs for childbirth and subsequent check-ups/vaccinations? My wife us...

Re: Substitute Investing (代用有価証券) What did I get myself into?
Can you not sell the stocks in question? I accidentally invested half my nisa allowance into my regular investment account (forgot to check the "NISA" button) without realising. I sold them at a slight loss, then rebought them again but made sure to allocate them to my NISA the second time!
