Re: Accountant for Non-Resident Canadians
Great thread. I'm just about to sell my mutual funds in Canada. I assume that since it's just a matter of paying the Japanese authorities the capital gains tax, it doesn't matter how much I sell? I can just do it all as a lump sum, right?

Re: Which is the best NISA provider, and why?
I've opened junior nisa for both my kids recently. The only hassle was the writing of my name - in English, katakana or hiragana and whether middle names were included.

Re: research progresses..... questions about ideco/nisa/other investing
SBI has free furikomi from a post office account. That's what I use. I can do it all online so while I have a decent amount in there to cover the automatic ideco contributions, I can easily add a bunch for special purchases. For example, in this current correction, it went down a bunch on the first ...

Re: moustachianism...
First step imo is start reading millionaire teacher. That one is quite good. The second book wasn't useful imo. Start the ideco process with SBI or Rakuten. It takes months to set up so sooner is better. Start the NISA process with SBI or Rakuten. After you finish reading millionaire teacher, identi...

Re: Rakuten Vanguard ETF Funds
Just realized that the two Rakuten Vanguard funds are on SBI. I got all excited but then read the info and compared it to other mutual funds and hmmm. Looks like we have the following options: Rakuten Vanguard VT (includes Japan and emerging markets) expense 0.2396% Mitsui Sumitomo DC tsumitate nisa...

Re: Junior NISA best funds
@Sutebayashi Those emaxis funds look good - .07% cheaper than the mitsui I listed above. However, they don't seem to issue dividends, hence your shares will only increase if you purchase more yourself. I want something that will increase the shares automatically with reinvested dividends. Or maybe t...
