Re: RetireJapan Guides
I'm thinking of doing a NISA guide next, then a guide to buying a home in Japan (ie real estate for individuals, not as an investment). After that (in no particular order) the Japanese pension system buying insurance getting a mortgage basic personal finance choosing banks, brokers, etc. What do you...

Re: Regular NISA and Tsumitate NISA
I find the various NISA accounts needlessly confusing: I think it's due to conflict between different government departments
I'm sure it reduces the number of people signing up!

Re: Regular NISA and Tsumitate NISA
Hi Dan I wrote about this a bit in June: http://www.retirejapan.info/blog/-tsumitate-nisa I guess we'll see how things work out once the new accounts start. Another factor is that you can only buy mutual funds in the new NISA. I also kind of hope they will extend the NISA duration, or replace it wit...

Re: The RetireJapan Guide to iDeCo
But at the end of the day I like the fact that the people who end up buying these know me and know the site, and understand what we are doing here.

Re: The RetireJapan Guide to iDeCo
Another thing I like is having full control of this side of things. I can change the file instantly (on Kindle it takes 24-48 hours if I remember correctly). I can give refunds easily if necessary, but it's my decision. And I get my customers' contact info etc. With Amazon they get all that, and you...

Re: The RetireJapan Guide to iDeCo
I thought about it. I have two books out on Kindle already, but sadly they aren't doing spectacularly. Not sure. I presume most of the sales would come from the site, so giving Amazon 30% (or 60% more likely, as I don't think it would be worth going exclusive) seems counter-productive. I'm planning ...

Re: NISA at Rakuten and iDeCo at SBI
Personally I went with the convenience of a single login -I have all my accounts except THEO at Rakuten. However, in hindsight, the wider fund selection for SBI iDeCo is tempting. I also believe there is an advantage in having accounts with different providers, in that it protects you from getting h...
