Re: MMF Money Market Funds
If you don't want to convert the USD back to JPY you could just put them in VT. But for temporarily holding I guess putting them in a mmf works and might give some very very small returns(they're just so small that I personally haven't bothered). - Does anyone use this for their spare cash in their ...

Re: We're not the only ones that like eMaxis Slim all-country
Am I just crazy or was this not always the case? I remember in the past doing some math and figuring that "mixing your own" was cheaper(I think at the time the world fund was like .2%) Yep that was true, but then they lowered the cost of all country, and now it's cheaper (that was the ori...

#1 has the lowest cost. That's definitely something good going for it. Personally I don't feel comfortable on relying solely on the US to drive the global economy, and my savings - who knows what will happen in the future. Am I just crazy or was this not always the case? I remember in the past doin...

Re: Industry specific index ETFs
There's an argument to be made for investing in nuclear power as a transitional energy source between fossil fuel and renewables. And from an ecological perspective it also makes sense as it is far far better than all the coal plants that are being run right now to power japan(because of the nuclear...

Re: Stealth Wealth FTW
I've talked with a couple financial planners here and they've been next to useless since they seem to only be able to work with the template of "when are you going to have kids, what kind of education would you like them to have, and how do you expect your income to grow until reaching retirem...

Re: lump sum investment
You can make lump sum investments in your nisa up to the limit(though that depends on the nisa type... if it's the tsumitate nisa I don't believe you can). If you're using the old nisa type, fill that up to your allowance first. As to when to invest, the theory says that sooner is better on average(...

Re: Buy a house or be miserable?
If you fill the other boxes but the car parking is the only deal breaker, have you considered renting a car parking spot(or 2 if none are available) in addition to whatever place that checks the other boxes? If the reason for not doing that is "it's too expensive" then unfortunately you ar...

Re: Flat35 (or other home loan) and age requiremetns
I can't speak too much to the flat35 loan part, but I'd be very interested in hearing about how you've been doing trying to get a passive house built here.

Re: Stealth Wealth FTW
It's always fun to think how random people are a lot more or less wealthy than they may seem. It's also interesting how real estate peoples attitude seems to change once they find out your income. But they're also so confused about why you don't budget higher with a high income and even more confuse...
