Re: New NISA strategy -GO!

My 2019 normal NISA is sitting at about 2 million so once the wrapper comes off I will cash it out and reinvest the funds in the new new eternal NISA and use whatever money I have available to increase it to the full 2.4 million limit in January. I'm in exactly the same boat. Wouldn't you want to s...

I just use Google Chrome with it set to automatically translate all Japanese to English...
It does a good enough job and makes the Rakuten Securities site pretty easy to navigate; no Japanese required...

Re: Calling the UK state pension in 2023

I'm calling them because I have two incomplete years from when they stopped taking my direct debit without telling me I have pretty much the exact same issue, but only the one incomplete year... I'm half tempted to just give up on that year as I'm too afraid HMRC will faff everything up, cancel my ...

I'm with you Gareth!
I made 12 years of back-payments first (Class 2 thankfully), then set up a direct debit with Nationwide... The money comes out monthly and for the last 3 years, everything has been fine.

Re: SBI Tsumitate NISA - Beginners

I'm with Rakuten and I decided pretty last minute, around DEC 26th, to change from regular to tsumitate for 2023 and the money is coming from my Post Office Bank account. Anyway, they said it would take two months to process everything meaning I could only make 10months of payments. So I had to go ...

Re: SBI Tsumitate NISA - Beginners

Just to hijack this thread a little... I want to switch from Regular NISA in 2022 to Tsumitate NISA in 2023 with SBI, and the message says that it will take almost two months! Does that sound right? It's not as if I'm a new customer, I already have a normal account and NISA account with them. I'm w...

As far as I know, I haven't checked in a while, I'm paying via direct-debit from an old Nationwide account in the UK...
After reading what has happened to a few people on here with their DD mysteriously stopping, I should maybe check this evening...

Re: Need a hanko when purchasing a house?

One more thing about registering the Hanko with the possible exception of Chinese people you can't have your name in Kanji. In Latin letters or Katakana only. My hanko is an abbreviation of my first name, in Katakana. I had the same trouble at the City Hall but thanks to an expired gym membership c...

Re: Refinancing mortgage

I think banks here are used to pulling the wool over their customers' eyes. Probably thought you would just agree to 2.35% right away. My bank looked at me as if I was a little green Martian when I told them I already had t-NISA and iDeCo set up through SBI and Monex respectively. They were trying ...
