Re: Is two retirement buckets enough

Thanks for the thoughtful responses! I think the fact that I’ll start with a stack of cash is steering my decision. I know it’s why I’ve not bothered with bonds so far. (Another reason for keeping cash would be whilst it’s not invested it’s not exposed to currency changes.) Captain’s comments on bei...

Re: NISA General Questions | SBI

So I logged in just now and the order has gone from the 注文照会 list and is now showing up as 投資信託 , but not (yet?) listed on the NISA page. I don't think I omitted to check the NISA預りbutton, but I don't see a transaction record of what I did (I'm imagining a receipt or confirmation mail or something ...

Is two retirement buckets enough

I currently have no bond allocation. In retirement, is two buckets (cash and equity investments) a terrible idea? My company retirement allowance(and hopefully severance), as cash, is enough to provide the retirement lifestyle I want for several (8-9) years whilst also continuing max new NISA (we'll...

On Installing Solar Array and Battery (Tokyo)

Don't read this unless you are interested in the topic. And even if you are I don't strongly recommend reading it. For those of us in Tokyo there are still huge government subsidies for Solar and Battery installations. I won't break down the maths but you should be able to install over 5kw of Solar ...

Re: Early Retirement Checklist

With the insurance though, if you have any dependents, two years is better. That way the dependent can have free insurance for the second year also. thanks. I'll keep that in mind. ...it's incredibly common so they knew what to do... Not only a good deal, it's the easy path, so one less thing to th...

Early Retirement Checklist

So.. I saw an opportunity and proposed my own role for corporate restructuring.. If accepted, it's a year earlier than when I was hoping to quit but the additional payout will more than cover the accelerated timeline. Expect I'll hear if successful or not very soon then will have x months to transit...

Re: HMRC Mistakes and issues (UK)

Oh…so fhis means that even after April 2024 people can still apply (for the first time) to make class 2 contributions, if they are living outside the UK? Is that right? https://www.gov.uk/government/news/deadline-for-voluntary-national-insurance-contributions-extended-to-april-2025 Until April 5th ...

Re: Delaying pension

... So when we consider the FINANCIAL BENEFIT of deferring our pension, I think we should also consider the HEALTHY LIFE EXPECTANCY. No point getting an extra 5% or 10% if you can't go anywhere and we're stuck at home. I don't want to blindly follow what the chancellor is saying. He has a bank bala...

Re: Representative Director - Risks without Rewards

I get a small salary from my wife's school, but apparently am not eligible to join unemployment insurance because we live together. Still gets deducted every month... :? Interesting. Wonder why.. Another poster in this thread says they stopped getting the deduction once they became RD. Our payroll ...

Re: Representative Director - Risks without Rewards

I think I've agreed a compromise to losing the unemployment insurance, even though they keep deducting it each month.. I get a small salary from my wife's school, but apparently am not eligible to join unemployment insurance because we live together.
