PSA: Shinsei bank to end International Cash Card (Overseas ATM) service

I've seen on here talk about the end of free ATM withdrawals for standard members, but I was taken back when I went to Shinsei to replace my cash card to find out that they will be ending international cash card services on Dec 8, 2018. Once the service has finished, you can use a prepaid GAICA card...

Re: iDeCo and Year-End Tax Adjustment

If possible, it is much easier to get your employer to take the iDeCo payment from your salary. However, if they won't or you don't want to ask, you will have to file a tax return. This blog post explains (with pictures) how the process works: http://www.tantonet.jp/qa/2263 If he's working full tim...

Re: Finance/Budget Apps

MoneyTree's buggy. Credit card balances often disappear and transaction catagorisation is iffy. The free version doesn't always update when you log in. The current/previous version of MoneyTree on Android is a bit buggy. Hopefully they'll sort it out in the next version. I think the free version is...

PSA: Be careful when setting up bonus payments for 積立NISA with Rakuten

I set up my 積立NISA at the start of this year and thought all was peachy. I maxed out the contributions through monthly payments, and 2 bonus payments a year. I double checked when I get my bonuses, and selected those months for extra money to be added, however, I now realise the error I fell into. I...

Re: Software for tracking savings and investments

I tried looking for something similar but never had much success. If it's only ETFs or stocks you're looking at, then there should be a few US ones that have access to Japanese market data, but if you've got money in Japanese domiciled funds, none of those options will work, and it seems most Japane...

Re: You have how many bank accounts?!

While I don't have quite as many accounts as you, I follow a similar method. I have various bank accounts for various purposes. For me, there is a big psychological reason for separating everything, if my money is all in one account, I'm more than likely to dip into my savings if I have easy access ...

I didn't say that! Don't misquote me!

(I wonder how that came about)

Re: Transferring an iDeCo account

Sorry if it's a little off topic, but what was your reasoning for switching from Rakuten to Monex?
