Re: Japan mortgage lenders allowing renting?
Hello, I have a specific challenge and wonder if anyone here has any advice. Along with my Japanese partner, we own a house in West Tokyo where we live with young family However, I have a too good to turn down job offer overseas that is attractive enough to do for a few years with the aim of coming...

Re: Wise now has a Tier 1 license: large transfers coming soon
Going back a few years, decades.... with Go Remit when it was run by Lloyds you could send as much as you want no proof of source of funds or tax return. Those were the days..... I’ve never been asked for proof of funds, incoming or outgoing with Prestia. But my wife had Mizuho block an incoming tr...

Re: WEDDING CELEBRANT
WEDDING CELEBRANT Anyone here ever do this? I performed just over 2,000. Easy job. Lots of travel. Clean. Saturdays and Sundays. Bought my house with the proceeds of this part-time gig alone. Did it for the money and travel. Thought it odd but did it anyway FOR THE CASH! Any of you people ever do i...

Re: Apple is denying a refund on a hacked account.
Would I stand better chance with a refund with the credit card company, do you reckon? Well if Apple are telling you to go that route, I would give it a try. In my experience Japanese credit card companies are a bit stricter on chargebacks than some CC companies overseas, but it is definitely worth...

Re: Optimizing depot and tax before returning to Japan
I think in order to be a permanent resident you need to have a jusho in Japan. So you might count as having been here the whole time. Anyone else? I unregistered my jusho in the city-hall and told them I'd be leaving Japan; and I got a 5-years re-entry from immigration. Hence I'm currently neither ...

Re: Generali Utmost International Vision Policy Termination
I had a Generali policy ( a 15 year one). I cashed it in after 10 years with a modest gain, but was glad to get out! One thing I did check before cashing in was when the bonuses come in. I waited till the ten year mark so I would get a bonus and then cashed in, so not sure why you didn't get a bonu...

Re: Will Japan copy the new British ISA?
I feel that if Japan reduced its top end rates they’d end up with a greater tax take in the end. I completely agree there would be less unproductive tax avoidance if they reduced the tax rates. Amen! I would say it’s not just the income tax rates, but other aspects like gift/inheritance tax too. Pe...

Re: Will Japan copy the new British ISA?
60,000 yearly into a private pension? How many people meet that threshold in the UK? The mean "annual pre-tax salary" is around £28,000 ". I was thinking about the public system. I had no idea there were such massive allowances for private contributions. Very favorable to high income...

Re: Will Japan copy the new British ISA?
So you are not contributing to the British state pension? if you think it is not a model for others to follow.... Ah sorry for the confusion, I am not a former UK resident. I would if I could though! However, I feel that the instability PAYG/triple lock UK pension is pretty heavily discussed. It lo...
