Re: Simple Investing Advice?
But on saying all this....I'm livid with standard life total return after 25 years endowment payments. A poxy 33 grand after dropping in 75 pounds a months. Seriously, if this was a managed fund....I'd want to slap the manager for probably doing nothing. If he was any kind of a manager he could hav...

Re: Stock-Picking game, Japanese junior high school

My daughter, who is in junior high school, came home the other day with the prep for one of these lessons. She asked m...

For our local city school you have to live in the area, but we have a couple of prefectural schools nearby open to anyone wh...

Re: Educating Children
Private schools around us are pretty reasonable, but I'm hoping to send our son to a selective public JHS with an affiliated HS. Even though we're in a semi-rural area competition for the better public schools is still pretty fierce.

Re: 3.3% safe withdrawal rate
Because stocks are more volatile, safe withdrawal rates are actually lower for higher equity allocations.EmaxisSlim Cultist wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 12:59 am One could up their equity allocation, and remain at 4% theoretically.
My plan is to have a cash buffer and use a flexible withdrawal strategy.

3.3% safe withdrawal rate
According to Morningstar, a 4% withdrawal rate in retirement might be too optimistic. Because of lower projected stock and bond returns they're now talking about 3.3% instead, which means your investments should be 30X the amount you plan to withdraw each year. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/11/the-4p...

Re: sbi foreign currency savings acct
Are you talking about the SBI Net Bank?
According to this link, the foreign currency savings account is automatically opened when you purchase some of the target currency from within your SBI Net Bank account.

Re: Japanese ETFs and mutual funds can claim back US witholding taxes now
Really interesting thread here. I wonder if eMaxis Slim funds are doing this? https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanFinance/comments/qlkr51/double_taxation_on_japanese_etfs/ I don't think so. As far as I can see it only applies to funds that make distributions. https://www.jsda.or.jp/anshin/oshirase/files/...
