Re: Simple Q&A - Stock market investing
Is there a way to look at the top-performing stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs in Japan over the past 5 years? I have a Rakuten Securities account if there is a filter or search query that can be used with them.

Re: How to use Daiwa Securities Account
Don't have a Daiwa sec account. But I recall visiting kidzania and laughing at the kids going for the Daiwa Securities experience whilst my kids were having fun making pizza or coca cola. What a missed opportunity that was.. 1. https://www.daiwa.jp/service/fee/ 2. https://kabukiso.com/daiwa/daiwa_s...

How to use Daiwa Securities Account
My wife receives her company stock into a Daiwa Securities account. She has no idea how to use it and Google Translate doesn't work as well with their website compared to Rakuten Securities. She has some simple (I think) questions: 1) What are the fees for selling stock on Daiwa? 2) Where is the sel...

Leaving Japan - but hoping to return for retirement
This is not something I have seen mentioned before, so I wanted to start a discussion. Has anyone ever left Japan and then returned later to retire? Perhaps you had worked in Japan 8 years, then got a great offer back in the EU. What would someone need to consider about taking that chance? 1) What h...

ANA SFC credit card
Occasionally points and miles come up for credit cards here in Japan. I came across this article about the ANA SFC credit card. https://loyaltylobby.com/2021/08/04/reader-report-getting-my-ana-platinum-status-with-the-double-premium-point-campaign/ Getting the SFC card and the accompanying Star Alli...

Re: Rakuten Ecosystem
You can use Rakuten Points to purchase stocks on Rakuten Securities. Point purchase needs to be enabled, and you also need to have 'funds' available to make the purchase, but then they will refund the funds and deduct from your point total. This only works for normal points, not the limited time var...

Flat35 (or other home loan) and age requiremetns
Hi All, I asked a question on the Japanlife reddit and got some good responses, but also wanted to survey home and loan owners here on the forums. In short, my wife mentioned that banks have restrictions on Flat35 or other home loans if the applicant is over 40 years old. The responses on reddit see...
