Re: Reducing taxable income
I can concur with StockBeard statement on medical expenses, specifically childbirth as being a potential windfall. Japan also allows you to claim the medical expenses of the household, so if you lived with elderly parents, their medical expenses could be a tax deduction. The main hassle is that you ...

Re: Better solution than bank savings account for cash storage?
I've got a bit of money in Maneo. Interest payments are made every month and the principal is returned when the loan is paid off. I'm not sure if I'll invest any more because I'm a bit wary about the risk of default. Thank you for being a data point for us all. Think you could share a bit more? How...

Re: Cryptocurrencies
Does anyone understand how someone can transfer money from Japanese BitCoin (like Bitflyer) to another exchange in the USA or EU? I cannot seem to find useful information on reddit or google.

Japanese Loyalty Point, Credit Card, and Mobile
I was wondering if this would be a topic of interest for folks here at RetireJapan. I know that Aeon has a Waon charge card and a credit card, but early last year they introduced a Smartcard that earns points, but you can then use a different payment method. This meant that I could earn loyalty poin...

Re: Rakuten Investing App
Thanks for the feedback.
Day trading was my first impression as well, and the fees didn't seem that great when I first checked it out a year or so ago. Still, I am willing to gamble a bit with the app. Are there any guides or explanation material that can help one better understand how to use it?

Rakuten Investing App
I am curious if anyone uses the Rakuten iSpeed app to do investment, forex tradin, etc. Or if there is a general consensus that it is not worth using when compared to tools like Schwab client accounts.
