On Installing Solar Array and Battery (Tokyo)

Don't read this unless you are interested in the topic. And even if you are I don't strongly recommend reading it. For those of us in Tokyo there are still huge government subsidies for Solar and Battery installations. I won't break down the maths but you should be able to install over 5kw of Solar ...

Re: Early Retirement Checklist

With the insurance though, if you have any dependents, two years is better. That way the dependent can have free insurance for the second year also. thanks. I'll keep that in mind. ...it's incredibly common so they knew what to do... Not only a good deal, it's the easy path, so one less thing to th...

Early Retirement Checklist

So.. I saw an opportunity and proposed my own role for corporate restructuring.. If accepted, it's a year earlier than when I was hoping to quit but the additional payout will more than cover the accelerated timeline. Expect I'll hear if successful or not very soon then will have x months to transit...

Re: HMRC Mistakes and issues (UK)

Oh…so fhis means that even after April 2024 people can still apply (for the first time) to make class 2 contributions, if they are living outside the UK? Is that right? https://www.gov.uk/government/news/deadline-for-voluntary-national-insurance-contributions-extended-to-april-2025 Until April 5th ...

Re: Delaying pension

... So when we consider the FINANCIAL BENEFIT of deferring our pension, I think we should also consider the HEALTHY LIFE EXPECTANCY. No point getting an extra 5% or 10% if you can't go anywhere and we're stuck at home. I don't want to blindly follow what the chancellor is saying. He has a bank bala...

Re: Representative Director - Risks without Rewards

I get a small salary from my wife's school, but apparently am not eligible to join unemployment insurance because we live together. Still gets deducted every month... :? Interesting. Wonder why.. Another poster in this thread says they stopped getting the deduction once they became RD. Our payroll ...

Re: Representative Director - Risks without Rewards

I think I've agreed a compromise to losing the unemployment insurance, even though they keep deducting it each month.. I get a small salary from my wife's school, but apparently am not eligible to join unemployment insurance because we live together. Re: Representative Director - Risks without Rewards

I became 代表取締役, kind of by default, for a small company I was a senior manager at when the then CEO and代表取締役, who was terminally ill, decided to give back her gaijin card to immigration on the spur of the moment when she went to Europe to spend more time with her boyfriend. It was only after all th...

Re: Matsui Securities and points

Hi guys, I noticed in an advertisement that Matsui Securities offers what looks like a lot of points for just holding funds (up to 1% a year) What are your impressions? Is this sustainable, or likely to be reduced? And why do they have such a policy? I think you are referencing this maybe. https://...

Re: Excessive Health Insurance deductions reimbursement 国民健康保険料

Thanks! I’m inclined to believe it’s them erring on the side of caution with the withholding rates. BTW, As covered in the post above I’ve identified the cause of the “extra”/“excessive” health deductions in my personal case. (Bonus payments).. I just checked the health insurance deduction for bonu...
