SBI iDeCo minor annoyance with switching
I sold one of my SBI iDeCo funds and bought another (‘switched’) and when it had eventually gone through, the old fund was still there with ¥150 left in it (presumably the interest between me selling and the software catching up and buying the new fund). So I had to switch that out again the followi...

Re: RetireJapan Guides
Lump sum investing? "I've got a million yen in cash. What should I do with it?" "I have ¥100,000 of my son's otoshidamas. What should I do with it?" That kind of thing would be useful to me, now you've covered the regular-deposit arena.

Re: How much will ¥100,000 in 2017 be worth in 2050?!
This sounds like something my wife joined before we met, although her yearly payment is only around 54,000 and she's only got a few years left to pay, so I figured she might as well finish it. But then I think we have to wait until she's 60 until it matures. I'll be 65 when ours matures, so it fits...

Re: How much will ¥100,000 in 2017 be worth in 2050?!
Irrelevant, except you were talking about inflation, but 2 years ago, well before I became interested in investing, we started paying into the JP Kampo scheme…which now sounds crap, in a ‘forced savings’ kind of way. It’s 10 yearly payments of about 490k. Then a wait of 5 years. Then we get back ¥5m...

Re: The three elements of money mastery
I'm starting to feel like we're being trolled. Absolutely no offence intended, but from what I can see, the Boglehead universe is a collection of likeminded individuals pursuing a single philosophy. RJ, on the other hand, is a place for questioning and answering questions related to the ent...

Stock and bond correlation?
When I finally finished my first ever investment book Millionaire Teacher recently, with zero financial knowledge beforehand, I simply took it that with a 50/50 stock/bond split, worst case scenario would simply be that half of my money is safe if stocks plummet for the length of my retirement. And ...
