Re: Bitcoin/cypto newbie questions
While exchanges claim to have strong security measures, you should consider purchasing a hardware wallet. That way, your coins are safely stored offline. (Actually it's your private key that is stored offline and protected by the hardware wallet. Not the coins). I use and recommend the Ledger Nano s...

Re: Cryptocurrencies
Bitcoin is becoming a bubble. It wasn't so bad before but going into 2018 I can see it getting really crazy. That's why I'm diversifying into start-ups with real, working applications. The four I'm currently in are Omisego (p2p payments), Power Ledger (p2p selling and buying of solar energy etc.), H...

Re: Cryptocurrencies
Yeah, it seems it's counted as income. I had a quick read of the article. Supposedly in the worst case scenario (if your income is over 40 million yen) your total taxation amount can be over 50%. However if you earn a more modest total income the tax rates are more lenient. 23% for less than 9,000,0...

Re: Cryptocurrencies
Another issue I'm unsure about is the tax concerning trading of currency pairs. E.g. buying OMG or some other currency on another exchange using BTC. Some people say it is not a tax event, because the assets are "like-kind". But others say they are different, and thus you should think of i...

Re: Transferring shares from Japan brocker to overseas
Interesting question. I've never tried, but I assume it would be a very time-consuming process if it were possible.
Have you asked your Japanese broker?

Re: Cryptocurrencies
I got into POWR because it's got an amazing team and has been backed by the Australian Government. Looks really promising. A few days back it was 30 yen, last night it was at 85 yen, now back down to 60. Crazy stuff. Just do your research, find a project you believe in and only put in what you're pr...

Re: Cryptocurrencies
So I ordered a ledger nano s to store my coins. Getting into it a bit more seriously now. Did a bit of reading and found some pretty neat looking blockchain applications to invest in. Namely Power Ledger and Omisego. Plenty more out there but that's it for now, or today at least

Re: Stock purchase ideas
If you keep it within your NISA limit, you can get free transactions (at least with SBI and Rakuten), and unlike the ETF pay no annual charge. No comment on whether it's an effective stragety though. :) So there's no transaction costs for stocks etc. in the NISA? I had always wondered as I couldn't...

Re: SBI iDeCo funds portfolio. Anyone willing to help?
so I can think to change the strategy if things get worse in future (sell to save the cash for sometime or go to bonds, etc). Trying to time the market is generally difficult. By the time you realise things are getting worse you would probably take a loss by selling. Probably a better idea to stick...
