Re: Offshore vs Onshore Investment

To the question "how do you get paid" the answer has been "with the 0,5% per year for the active managing". That's almost definitely a lie. This product pays a commission to the salesperson (this is the reason for them locking up the first few years of contributions). Not the be...

Re: Reinvesting gains in THEO

I have used Theo for ~1 years and I am not aware of such an option. In the end I have closed my account and moved everything to low-cost ETFs due to the inefficiencies I perceived in robo-advisors (and the number of monthly transactions that made things pretty difficult to follow accurately).

Re: Offshore vs Onshore Investment

Fantastic! Here's another question to be made. Asking them about the redemption penalties is akin to waving garlic in front of a vampire (which is a pretty adequate comparison in that case). They are going to love that one. Please also don't forget to ask for a complete breakdown of all the fees, i...

Re: Offshore vs Onshore Investment

The first one: we came to the conclusion that unless you are a Japanese that speaks Japanese only, there are far better options than NISA/iDeco to invest with. Reading this sentence really made me mad. A bunch of incompetent crooked liars, the whole lot of them. There is no way the "products&q...

Perfect reply.

That's the second one of course, as you may have noticed if you looked at the supporters list. ;) I've been a big fanboy of your efforts since the beginning, thanks again for putting this site and forum together!

Re: Furusato Nozei: Worth It?

Another pointer for people playing the Rakuten game: It turns out most of the bonus points through their SPU program are awarded as time-limited points. So you you have to use the points within about 6 weeks of being awarded them, or lose them. For what it's worth, Rakuten Pay allows you to use the...

Re: Furusato Nozei: Worth It?

For example, buy an item over 1000 yen during a marathon, locking in an extra 1% increase in additional points, and then buying e.g. a 10,000 yen Furusato Nozei item which will result in an additional 1000 yen, because of the previously bought 1000+ yen item, basically getting the 1000 yen item for...

Re: Furusato Nozei: Worth It?

We are heavy users of the system. We "buy" mostly fruit, rice, meat and beer. We usually also purchase hotel coupons to go snowboarding and have free stays at a nice hotel. We spread the purchases out over the year. Adam's way of considering the opportunity cost is interesting. I do want ...
