Re: Tokutei koza - what if the broker screwed up?
Oh there they go again! Another notification from the broker today, this time they have re-issued my tokutei account report for 2023, so I have to check it to see whether I need to re-submit my tax return again (which I just did once again last night... I would have held off if I knew they would be ...

Re: Will Japan copy the new British ISA?
I feel that if Japan reduced its top end rates they’d end up with a greater tax take in the end. Amen! I would say it’s not just the income tax rates, but other aspects like gift/inheritance tax too. People waste their time and money getting into tax avoidance schemes, distorting economic behavior,...

Re: Kakutei Shinkoku 2024 using the online eTax system?
I just have to claim for my furusato nozei only (I didn't use the 'one-stop' system). Is that possible online using e-tax? In the process you’ll find an option to load up an XML file of the furusato nozei data. If you did all yours with Rakuten, you can have Rakuten produce an XML file for use here...

Re: iDeCo Application with Monex 2024
It’s a mismatch between Monex and JIS&T, but not sure which side has it wrong.Seasider4374 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 8:44 am Thanks for the info! Can I just ask if the name issues were on which of Rakuten, or Monex, or JSI&T's sides?

I want this for Monex actually… looked for such a thing by could not find it, so perhaps they haven’t got the feature.Tsumitate Wrestler wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 12:18 pm Brokers like Rakuten let you schedule a monthly sale of s mutual fund.

Re: Tokutei koza - what if the broker screwed up?
Ugh, Monex has posted a new message and it suggests I need to amend the tax return I submitted for 2023, by the 15th. Lucky me! First time to submit a corrected tax return though, so I’ll try to enjoy the new experience…

Re: Rethinking emergency funds
This requires the acceptance that I may have to sell some investments, but if I do accept that, is it a bad plan? I recently came to this way of thinking, and put a chunk of “emergency” cash into foreign bonds. There is certainly no consensus around here about that, but for my perhaps idiotic part,...

Re: Overseas interest on savings?
Do I need to add anything for overseas interest on savings in UK bank accounts? I'm not sure how much it would total to last year, but it's probably only going to be like 50-100pounds (9,000-18,000yen) so it's not massive amounts. It's going to be a bit of a nightmare to work out how much interest ...

Re: iDeCo Application with Monex 2024
I switched from Rakuten to Monex iDeCo circa 2017 (might have written about it here at the time), and I recall it might take 2-3 months all up. In the end, due to my own name issues that I never resolved, I cannot view my iDeCo details normally on the Monex website, but I can see the balance under “...
