Long time lurker first time poster, hello everyone!
I am a full time (seishain) employee but have to do the kakutei shinkoku this year and was wondering about claiming for rent - is it possible to do as a full time employee? I have been working 100% remote since January 2020.
Thanks in advance, sorry if this is a silly question
Is it possible to claim rent if full time working remote?

The discussion here suggests no, unfortunately.

Don't forget to pay back your tax free commuting allowance at the same time ![Wink ;-)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

Sorry I was being facetious.
Most full-time employees get a tax free commuter allowance. Since you were talking about trying to claim tax back on your rent, I was pointing out that using the same reasoning you shouldn't be getting a commuter allowance if you work from home.
