Switching to Kokumin Nenkin from Kosei Nenkin

Post by RetireJapan »

I'll be finishing my current contract at the end of March.

From April I am going to pay kokumin nenkin. When can I do the paperwork for that? Can I do it in advance or do I need to wait until April? How about changing iDeCo?

When you become subject to the Category I insured person, you need to register yourself at your residential municipal office within 14 days, by submitting the “Application to Enroll in National Pension as Category I Insured Person” (KOKUMIN NENKIN HIHOKENSHA KANKEITODOKESHO (MOUSHIDESHO).
