I agree, AU jibun bank UI was quite bad.
Give PayPay Bank a try. It was quite smooth when I applied.
And their overall offering is almost on par with AU Jibun Bank. Incredible value (currently 0.319% rate and you get the same cancer50 while cancer100 is only +0.1%).
You can also book an appointment with SBI Money Plaza, and somebody from their partner Good Mortgage will do everything for you. This is what I did.
You get the exact same rate and offering as SBI Net Bank, and there are no additional fees (train ticket to get there, and 1 hour of your time filling papers with someone).
SBI Bank is also very good value.

I had a meeting with my realtor today. I asked him to help make additional applications for me. He mentioned that some of the issues I was having was because their web sites were designed in a way to only work with a browser in a Japanese OS. Changing input language alone isn't enough.
