On the subject of retirement "Golf" Options

Gate Ball ゲートボール
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateball
This is team Croquet. Played with a mallet. Wooden Balls.
Frankly, just reading the game play on Wiki cause a rivelet of sweat on my back so I don’t think this is for me.
If you like competition for the sake of it and gingerly delicate high-fives* this could be the retirement sport for you!
(Yes. I'm sure there are individual contests too.)

Ground Golf グラウンド ゴルフ
https://akitajet.com/wiki/Ground_Golf
Thank the Akita JETs for that write up. Who says there’s nothing to do in Akita!

Ground Golf is single club approximation of normal Golf in terms of rules.
The Ground course being smaller and often using all-weather multipurpose sports grounds hence the name.
Instead of a hole you’ll hit a Post to complete the hole.
I sense its more ozeki one-cups than leather bound hip flasks.

Park Golf パーク ゴルフ
Basically ground golf for the wealthy. Single club version of golf.
The park course being grass and looking like a miniature golf course.
I expect lot of golf fashion on show whilst bragging about grandkids achievements.

Mallet Golf マレット ゴルフ
Mallet Golf is basically Ground Golf but instead of hitting a goal post you actually get to put the ball into a hole.

Although it smells like a betamax owners group if you know what I mean...

Putter Golf パターゴルフ
Minigolf - Miniature golf. Crazy Golf, etc.
Hopefully we all know this one. Use a normal golf putter and ball. Played on felt, concrete, whatever.

Who our there calls it "baby golf" or "bat golf"...

Importantly. It should not be confused with...

Minigolf Open Standard (MOS).
which is it's own sport entirely so only a matter of time before their first drug scandal.

It's basically crazy golf for show offs. Just don't tell them that.

Garden Golf ガーデン ゴルフ
If you told me an hour ago that I’d be here right now I’d have doubted you.
http://www.gardengolf.org/english/

"Garden Golf is a new kind of golf which uses pocket billiard balls and a special golf club with a rubber club head.
The ball is played on bare ground or grass and aimed a plastic flowerpot buried in the ground, using golf putting techniques. "
Every day we stray farther from God's light... Is nothing sacred. Billiard Balls!
At least there can't be any sign of such deviancy near me.

Oh. Of course my local ward has it's own association.

And that's it.
Until someone points out I've missed several others..

*(Ever see two tennis partners here high five? The most powerful microphone in the world wouldn't detect the sound of their palms meeting.)

Thank you MM for this funny and informative post. It's just a shame I have no enthusiasm for golf whatsoever

Aiming to retire at 60 and live for a while longer. 95% index funds (eMaxis Slim etc), 5% Japanese dividend stocks.
