Re: TOKUTEI KOZAI/NISA help
OK So we can make a large payment via the BONUS system. I am so thinking we can't just do that via the post office.......

According to this source the deadline for setting it up, was yesterday. and the money needs to be in your account today. I would try to transfer the money to my account and see if you can maybe still manage it on Friday.

証券口座(楽天銀行マネーブリッジ)引落し+増額の積立指定日 12月21日(木)まで
Deadline for setting up reserve: December 20 (Wed.)
Designated date for withdrawal from securities account (Rakuten Bank Money Bridge) + increase in reserve: December 21 (Thu.)

Re: TOKUTEI KOZAI/NISA help
Normally yes, definitely for the 2024 NISA.
However, according to the information provided, the window for 2023 Tsumitate NISA contributions is closed.
Unless someone has a different interpretation, I think you missed the boat.

Thanks. there was a bonus withdrawal set up so I guess we’ll wait and see. It’s no big deal as She can slot it into next years allocation but. Wow! Yeah! Kinda exasperating even for native Japanese people. Between CC payments, bonus payments, TNISA payments, Tokutei purchases, and then to add another layer next year for the “growth section”

And the growth section would be tax free too?RetireJapan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 9:24 amIf you want to do spot purchases, you need to use the growth section.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Re: TOKUTEI KOZAI/NISA help
Yes, NISA is tax free (on the Japan side).
Dividends from shares/ETFs in a NISA are free of Japanese tax, and the growth from your funds/shares/ETFs are also not taxable here.
Aiming to retire at 60 and live for a while longer. 95% index funds (eMaxis Slim etc), 5% Japanese dividend stocks.
