Just an update on my previous post. My partner recently bought a 3DK in suburban Yokohama for under 5K. It was a bit of a tip and needed cleaning up, but was very doable, and all the basic things worked. Hot water, shower, bath, washlet. So although renting a UR was a good option, now being rent free is a huge plus for retired life. It's a bit out in the boonies, but if you don't have to go to work every day, that's not a huge obstacle.

Sorry, 5 million yen. But considering how the price of rice is going, it might be a similar amount, what with all these tariffs in the works. :mrgreen:
