Oh I see, it's a mix of domestic and international stocks, bonds, and REITs, and slowly rebalances towards being mostly domestic bonds by 2040, for the price of 0.462%

I guess it's not too bad? It's not a good choice for NISA though, because it pays out a dividend once a year.

This summary is a bit more accessible:

To be honest -- I did all the research about 3 years ago now -- to choose the funds for my ideco -- I did simulations and found out my risk comfort level -- and then did a lot of pouring over documents to research about suggested funds for my risk comfort level -- and then after calculating and assessing the different funds and their outcomes as well as looking at the costs -- I tried to invest in a diversity of funds that would suit my comfort level of risk as an investor -- this just happened to be one of the funds I am invested in that looked good to me after all my research -

Thanks for all the responses -- now on to researching the NISA and what would be best for my investor risk level there as well -- Cheers!

eMaxis Slim has equity funds, bond funds and REIT funds as well as this balanced thing.
It does not have any target-date funds like the 2040 one you are using.

Perhaps search for Target on your broker webpage if that is what you prefer.

With a 15-year or 20-year timeframe, inside the tax-advantaged NISA, I would personally go for an equity fund and ignore all the rest. Not advice, just what I would do (and in fact what I am doing for myself and family members) .
