RetireJapan Online Conference

Post by RetireJapan »

I did an online event today about personal finance, and once again realised how many people are out there who are totally lost.

I think it might be good to do a free online conference -the first for RetireJapan. Not just me, but a number of speakers over a full day or so.

Content would be a mix of factual presentations (largely aimed at beginners, explaining NISA, iDeCo, the basics of personal finance, etc.) and conversations/round tables/QA sessions.

What do you think?

Sounds great.
I would definitely watch it.
If it wasn't for RetireJapan I still would be completely clueless about personal finance, let alone investing...

There are three hurdles:

-organizing (I can do this)
-presenting (I hope people will volunteer to help with this)
-promoting (we need people to go out and tell their friends/colleagues about it)

I'd also recommend recording the online conference so that it can be shared and re-watched.

Happy to promote / contribute. Not sure people could handle me not looking like a blue pig though.

Thanks! Need to think about the timing. Maybe a public holiday in November?

Am now thinking Labor Thanksgiving Day would be a very suitable day for our conference (November 23).

Sounds like a good choice.
I am happy to promote too (have nothing to contribute).

In addition to recording the conference like OkiBum said, maybe you could grab the audio from the recorded conference and turn it into a podcast? I'm sure that there are people that would be interested in listening to it while commuting, etc.
That way busy people would have no excuse :D
