Looking for a payment processor that accepts international CCs

An LLC (合同会社) I occasionally consult with has reached out to ask about an online payment processor that would accept credit cards from international customers.

I thought of PayPal but, it appears, that is the one they were using and it has caused them infinite problems. Thus, their interest in an alternative.

Perhaps someone here has experience with either a Japanese payment processor or another one that they would recommend.

Truly, much appreciated.

Square has been here for a decade or so. Would they meet your needs? https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article ... %20Spain.

I would give Adyen a look. We had some good conversations with them. Never moved forward but not for reasons to do with them.

Sorry guys, I never got the email notifications.

I'm told they went with Stripe.

I know it's a while since the original post, but I use both Stripe and Payoneer (the latter helps for customers in certain countries).

Easy to set up both.

I looked into Stripe and PayPal but the fees were horrible. I ended up using a Japanese company called GMO Payment Gateway because each transaction fee is only about 1.5% (depends a bit on which card client uses). I may be wrong but I seem to remember Stripe, PayPal etc charge 4-5%. Although GMO has a hefty initial setup charge and monthly charge, if you have enough volume going through you'll soon more than cover those costs with the lower transaction fees.

I would be interested in more details - we have been using PayPal for >20 years for our jigsaw puzzle shop, and we have certainly not had anything like "infinite problems". OTOH, PayPal fees (more strictly the ones they are not entirely honest about, hidden in the exchange rate) are quite high, and overall the terms have got slightly worse over the years. Originally, any refund was a refund: you charged the customer 8000 yen, and if the special order did not materialise, a refund put everyone back where they were before. Now they charge the (4? 5?) percent on the refund amount, which means we pay a fee for nothing. In what ways would these alternatives improve on this?

That's pretty mysterious; they talk about purchasing Square hardware - where would such hardware go?? (Is this really for online payments?)
