OK So we can make a large payment via the BONUS system. I am so thinking we can't just do that via the post office.......

According to this source the deadline for setting it up, was yesterday. and the money needs to be in your account today. I would try to transfer the money to my account and see if you can maybe still manage it on Friday.

OH i see. So i can transfer the money to the Rakuten shoken account from the post office, and they will take it from the rakuten sjoken account.

I hope thats right.

Normally yes, definitely for the 2024 NISA.

However, according to the information provided, the window for 2023 Tsumitate NISA contributions is closed.

Unless someone has a different interpretation, I think you missed the boat.

Thanks. there was a bonus withdrawal set up so I guess we’ll wait and see. It’s no big deal as She can slot it into next years allocation but. Wow! Yeah! Kinda exasperating even for native Japanese people. Between CC payments, bonus payments, TNISA payments, Tokutei purchases, and then to add another layer next year for the “growth section”

Yes, NISA is tax free (on the Japan side).
Dividends from shares/ETFs in a NISA are free of Japanese tax, and the growth from your funds/shares/ETFs are also not taxable here.
