Missed December work deadline for Ideco Postcard, when can I submit?

Hello,

My postcard for 2023 IDECO contributions didn't arrive, so I requested a new card which arrived too late to submit for the December
tax deadline at my company. I now have the postcard.

I now wonder what the procedure is to claim the tax rebate, can I claim it through my company at the end of the tax year (April?)? Or what's the procedure?
The school administrator is new to the role, so she doesn't know much about IDECO, and I am also still learning about it.

Thank you,

James

I'm guessing you will have to do a tax return to claim the credit. It is not too difficult to do this online.

Anyone else?

Yep, tax return.

https://retirewiki.jp/wiki/Tax_return

You should have a 源泉徴収票 from your employer. The tax return should walk you through adding all the data from that, which should result in zero tax due.

Then you can add the income deduction for iDeCo ("Small Business Mutual-Aid Etc. Deduction" 小規模企業共済等掛金控除) and you should end up with a rebate. You will probably have to physically mail them the postcard, I'm not sure though, it will tell you if you do.

You can do it now, but you need to do it by 15 March.

In December this year, you can use the instructions here to avoid doing the tax return again next year:
