Unpaid taxes for side job

Just wanted to say thanks to all.

I went to my local tax office yesterday and despite my poor Japanese and their non-existent English, we muddled through.

More than 5 years previous is 'too old' and I apparently couldn't pay that far back even if I wanted to.

I submitted this years (2023) and 3 more income statements, handed my smartphone over to the councillor and he input all the details and handed me 4 bills to pay at my earliest convenience. ( This year's by March 15). No additional penalties and no accusatory language as I feared.
